District Profile
The district was announced in March 2023 by then Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot. Shahpura is a holy site for the Hindu Ram Sanehi section, which was established in 1804. It is located 55 kilometers from Bhilwara and is surrounded by a wall with four gates. Shahpura is a Municipality city and district headquarters of Shahpura district, Rajasthan. The municipality supplies basic amenities including water and sewerage. It is authorized to build roads and impose property taxes. In 2011, the Shahpura municipality had a population of 30,320. Current estimated population of Shahpura Municipality in 2024 is approximately 47,000. The schedule census of 2021 for Shahpura city is postponed due to covid.The sex ratio was 984 females for every 1,000 males. The literacy rate was 77.84% for the population over 7 years. Shahpura district is divided in seven blocks by which Banera, Jahajpur, Kotri, Phooliya Kalan and Shahpura. The size of the operational holding is small. Main sources of irrigation are wells and tanks. The major crops grown during kharif season are Maize, Sorghum, Green gram, Blackgram, Groundnut, Sesame and cotton, while wheat, Barley Gram and Mustard are principal crop grown in rabi season. The area under fruit trees is negligible and vegetable cultivation is also limited in very small area.
Shahpura is situated between 25.6231° N Latitude and 74.9292° E Longitude. Shahpura is a place of pilgrimage for the followers of the Ram Snehi sect. They have a shrine in the town called Ramdwara. The chief priest there is the head of the sect. Pilgrims from across the world visit the shrine. A fair called Phooldol Mela continues for five days after Holi. by Ramdwara Temple. This is the samadhi of the 13th head of Ramsnehi Sampradaya, Swami Ji Shri Ramkishorji Maharaj. It is located in Ramniwas Dham, Shahpura, Bhilwara. The temple of Charbhuja Nath is situated in the middle of the city, as well as a Hanuman temple called Balaji ki Chatri.
Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Shahpura was established in the year July 2018 known as technology center of the district. This Kendra recognized as ISO 9001: 2015 certified Institute. KVK has total 23.44 ha land. The Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Shahpura is an innovative first line science-based transfer of technology project, functioning under the auspicious guidance of the ICAR, State Govt. of Rajasthan & Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture & Technology, Udaipur. KVK has been established for the transfer of latest & proven technologies in agriculture & allied fields in order to increase the productivity, potentials & to bridge the time lag between technologies generation at the research institutions & its transfer to the farmer’s fields. It aims to increase self-employment, opportunities among farmers, farm women & rural youths. KVK functions on the collaborative participations of scientists, extension workers & farmers by the approach of "seeing is believing” and “Learning by doing” to transfer Agricultural/Animal Husbandry, Horticulture & Home science technologies to bridge the gap between production and productivity and to increase self-employment opportunities. It offers skill and knowledge-oriented trainings in multidisciplinary areas like crop production and plant protection, Horticulture, Animal Sciences and Fisheries, Home Science and Agricultural Engineering etc. The KVK is the light house of knowledge to the farming community of the district.
